ModSeed Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-09-20

These Terms of Service are the rules for using ModSeed. They are written in plain English on purpose, so that builders of every age can understand them. By creating an account, or by using the service at all, you agree to these Terms. ModSeed is operated by Adam Ward, sole proprietor, doing business as ModSeed and CIServerModding Studios, based in Wyoming, USA. If anything here is unclear, email [email protected] and a real person will answer.

1. What the service is (and what it is not)

ModSeed is a visual builder for Minecraft add-ons. Instead of writing code, you drag items, blocks, entities and other pieces onto a canvas, connect them, draw pixel-art textures, and we turn your graph into a real, ready-to-install file: a Bedrock .mcaddon (with a resource pack) or a Java Edition datapack. Java exports work on every plan, and the one-click Java↔Bedrock converter — an Ultra feature — re-targets the same visual graph for both engines.

Everything you make on ModSeed is created with our visual editor. There are no file uploads and no manual code editing: this is a deliberate design choice that keeps the service safe and affordable, and it means every project on our servers was built with tools we control. It also means everything in your workspace is a creation made through our service for the purposes of these Terms.

We also host your work. Cloud-synced projects live on our servers, and you can export (download) them whenever you like, within the download limits described later in these Terms. You can also keep projects in local storage, which lives in your own browser: it is unlimited on every plan, never auto-purged, and never affected by plan changes. These Terms apply to the whole service: the website, the builder, your hosted projects, your local workspaces, the pixel art editor, the 3D model and animation studio, the notepad, the live collaboration feature, the AI assistant tools, and every file you export.

Minecraft is a trademark of Mojang Synergies AB. ModSeed is not associated with, or approved by Mojang or Microsoft, and it is not a Mojang or Microsoft product. ModSeed is also not affiliated with PlayForge. It is an independent project operated by Adam Ward, sole proprietor, doing business as ModSeed and CIServerModding Studios, Wyoming, USA.

2. Who can use it

ModSeed is open to builders of all ages. If you are under 18, you may use the service only with the permission of a parent or legal guardian, who agrees to these Terms on your behalf.

If you are under 13, United States law (the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, or COPPA) requires verifiable parental consent before you may create an account. That means a parent or guardian must actually confirm that they agree. If you are a parent or guardian and you believe your child signed up without your consent, email [email protected] and we will remove the account.

Every sign-in asks you to confirm, with a checkbox, that you are 18 or older OR that you have a parent or guardian's permission to use ModSeed, and that you have read and agree to the Terms of Service, the Privacy Policy, and the Minecraft EULA — including any changes since your last visit. Sign-up collects those three agreements for the first time, and each sign-in renews them, so nothing changes quietly. If you keep using ModSeed after we post a change, that counts as accepting it.

2a. Account security: passwords and two-factor authentication

Your password is the first lock on your account, so it has to be a real lock. Passwords must be at least 8 characters long, and they must include at least one letter, one number, and one special symbol (like ! or ?). When a password has more than one digit, obvious number patterns — like 11, 123, 1212 or 123123 — are rejected, because patterns like those are easy to guess and are the first thing password-guessing tools try. That rule is not there to annoy you; it is there to make guessing your password slow and pointless.

Two-factor authentication (2FA) is a second lock. When you turn it on, you connect an authenticator app — Google Authenticator, 1Password, or any similar app — and the app shows a fresh 6-digit code every 30 seconds. At sign-in you type your password first, then the code the app is showing right now. Using 2FA to sign in is your choice, but it is required before you make any purchase — a subscription, a storage pack, or an add-on. A purchase is an account-control action: it spends money and changes your plan, so we ask for the second factor to make sure it is really you.

When you enable 2FA you also receive eight one-time backup codes, and they are shown to you exactly once — save them somewhere safe the moment they appear (a password manager, or paper you will not lose). Each backup code works in place of a 6-digit code, for the times your phone is lost, broken, or replaced, and each one stops working the first time you use it. Backup codes are stored only as hashes, which means nobody — including ModSeed support — can show them to you again. If you skip saving them, they are gone for good.

We want to be honest about the two situations where an account cannot be recovered. Not "hard to recover" — impossible, and support cannot bypass it:

If you lose your authenticator app AND all of your backup codes, the account cannot be recovered. There is no exception to this, and no one at ModSeed can turn 2FA off for you.

If you lose your password and your account does NOT have 2FA enabled, the account cannot be recovered either. ModSeed collects no email address or other identity data at sign-up — just a username and a password — so there is no way to verify that you are the owner. Create a new account instead.

There is one recovery path, and 2FA is the key to it: if you have 2FA enabled and you lose your password, you can recover access yourself. Type your username plus the current code from your authenticator app, then set a new password — which also signs out every device, so anyone who might have your old password is locked out too.

These rules are absolute for one simple reason: because we do not collect email addresses or other identity data, we have nothing to verify your identity with — and no identity verification means no recovery. The same privacy choice that keeps your data small is what makes a lost account truly lost. Enable 2FA, save your backup codes, and keep your password somewhere safe, and none of this will ever be a problem you face.

3. License to your creations

Your creations are yours. You keep ownership of every add-on, texture, node graph and other work you build with ModSeed, and you may export and use your creations however you like, including in ways that make you money.

In exchange for hosting, building, converting and improving the service, you grant ModSeed and CIServerModding Studios a royalty-free, irrevocable, worldwide, and perpetual license to copy, store, redistribute, modify, host, publicly display, and use your creations and any part of them — including code, textures, and other assets — for the operation, improvement and promotion of the service. This includes the right to show your work as an example or in marketing for ModSeed.

This license is irrevocable and survives account deletion, project deletion, subscription cancellation, and any termination or ban of your account. If you delete your account or we terminate it, we may keep using creations you made while your account was active, even though your personal data is removed as described in our Privacy Policy.

To be clear about what this is not: it is not a transfer of ownership, and it is not exclusivity. You are free to use your creations anywhere else, with anyone else, at any time. It simply allows us to run, back up, and promote the service without needing to ask each builder for individual permission.

4. Plans and subscriptions

ModSeed is free to start. The Free plan includes one cloud-synced project (up to 50 KB), 50 exports per 30-day window, and unlimited local storage — projects kept in your browser are never counted or capped. Cloud projects inactive for 7 days may be cleaned up.

ModSeed Starter is a subscription at $3 per month — the first paid step between Free and Pro. It lifts you to 15 cloud-synced projects and 3.5 MB of included cloud-sync storage, expandable with $2.49 storage packs that top your account off at exactly 50 MB total. Exports are unlimited, and local storage is unlimited. Starter includes the free node collection plus two Starter blocks — effects and events; the remaining Pro nodes and live collaboration arrive with Pro.

ModSeed Pro is a subscription at $10 per month. It raises your limits: up to 50 cloud-synced projects, 10 MB of included cloud-sync storage (expandable with $2.49 storage packs up to 110 MB total), unlimited exports, unlimited local storage, and access to the full Pro node collection in the editor (Starter blocks included).

ModSeed Ultra is a subscription at $25 per month. It includes everything in Pro plus: unlimited exports, 50 MB of included storage (expandable with $4.99 storage packs up to 250 MB total), up to 100 cloud-synced projects, unlimited local storage, the Ultra-only node collection (including the 3D model and animation studio), experimental feature toggles for your projects, one-click conversion of your workspace between Bedrock and Java Edition, automated version control (tagged release snapshots with AI-generated patch notes, up to 30 per project), BYOS Git sync that pushes your snapshots to your own private GitHub repository, the idea lightbulb, the bring-your-own-key (BYOK) AI assistant, and live collaboration for up to 15 people.

Plans never stack in either direction. Moving between Starter, Pro and Ultra always means cancelling the subscription you have first, then subscribing to the new plan — whether you are stepping up from Starter to Pro, jumping to Ultra, or moving back down.

ModSeed for Creators is a one-time purchase at $7.99 for Pro and Ultra subscribers. Pay once and the cinematic node collection (cameras, screen fades, cinematic titles and more) is yours to keep forever — even if you cancel Pro or Ultra later and drop back to the free plan — there is no renewal and no monthly charge.

One-time add-ons: storage packs cost $2.49 for +10 MB on Starter and Pro, and $4.99 for +50 MB on Ultra. Branding removal costs $2.99 once — after buying it you can set your own studio branding (a studio name and a website) that is embedded into the metadata of every file you export, profile-wide, in place of the default Made with ModSeed credit.

Storage packs travel with you when you change plans. Moving up to Ultra grants a free top-up that rounds your extra storage up to the nearest 50 MB — only up, never down. If you downgrade, or a plan ends, and you hold more storage than the new plan allows, your usable cloud storage is capped at the new plan's maximum, but the extra packs are preserved on your account and automatically become usable again if you upgrade later. Local storage is unlimited on every plan and never affected by plan changes.

Subscriptions are not taxed: the round-dollar sticker price is the full price — $3, $10 or $25 per month is exactly what your card is charged. ModSeed currently sells only to customers in the United States, and all prices are in US dollars. Payments from other regions are blocked by our payment provider's fraud rules — attempting to get around that regional restriction, for example with a VPN or proxy that misrepresents your location, is a payment-fraud violation of these Terms.

Subscriptions renew automatically each month until cancelled. You may cancel any time; you keep access until the end of the paid period, and afterwards every project stays downloadable for a 30-day grace window. After the grace window, paid-plan projects are removed and one free-plan project remains. One-time purchases (the Creators add-on, storage packs, branding removal) are permanent while your account exists.

5. Download limits and credits

Every export of your project counts against a rolling 30-day download window. The Free plan includes 50 exports per window; Starter, Pro and Ultra all include unlimited exports. Every plan is also subject to a short burst limit on the export endpoint, which exists to stop automated spam and keep the service fast for everyone.

Download credit packs are no longer sold — the product has been retired. If you already hold banked credits, they keep working exactly as they always did: they are spent once your monthly exports are used up (including during the 30-day grace window after cancelling a paid plan), they never expire, and they are never forfeited — they simply sit unused while you are on Starter, Pro or Ultra and become spendable again if your account returns to the Free plan.

We set download limits because exporting builds and moves files across our infrastructure, which costs us real money. The limits exist to keep the service available and fast for everyone.

5a. Fair use of the free plan

The Free plan's 50 exports per window are one allowance per person. Circumventing them — with fake or burner accounts, rotating IP addresses, automated scripts that scrub or reset local storage to impersonate a fresh device, or device farms — is a violation of these Terms. To keep the allowance honest, ModSeed tracks device fingerprints and IP addresses, and may issue device bans and network (IP) bans against circumvention.

Free-plan local workspaces have no server-side backup. An account flagged as abusive can be terminated immediately, and its association with the local workspace is severed — permanently, with no possibility of recovery. That is not a threat; it is an honest description of what happens: the browser-stored work is gone, and we cannot bring it back.

Add-ons exported while abusing the free tier's limits and uploaded to the Minecraft Marketplace, CurseForge or similar platforms are subject to takedown requests. ModSeed will assert that the asset was compiled through unauthorized access to its engine — the file exists because our compiler built it, and an abusing account had no right to that build.

6. Live collaboration

Pro and Ultra subscribers can turn on live collaboration for a project: several builders, artists and animators work in the same workspace at the same time, with changes appearing for everyone instantly — like a shared document. Pro includes up to 3 people per workspace (including you) and Ultra up to 15.

Live collaboration is limited to builders who are 13 or older. Before the feature can be turned on or joined, we ask each person to confirm with a checkbox that they are 13 or older, and we keep a record of that confirmation. This keeps the feature on the right side of children's privacy law.

You invite collaborators by username, and only the project owner can invite or remove people. Everything your collaborators edit in your shared workspace is governed by these Terms exactly as if you edited it yourself: the owner is responsible for managing their workspace, and creations made in it are licensed to us under Section 3 like any other creation. If a collaborator misbehaves, remove them — and if an account is banned under Section 8, they lose access to every workspace, including yours.

Collaboration needs each person's browser to exchange live editing messages with our realtime service. Those messages contain project content (nodes, positions and settings) — never your password or billing data.

7. Refunds

All purchases on ModSeed are digital goods delivered immediately: subscriptions, storage packs, branding removal, and the Creators add-on. Because the goods are delivered instantly and cannot be returned, all purchases are final and non-refundable.

Cancelling a subscription stops future billing only. You keep access until the end of the paid period, and no partial refund is issued for unused time.

If you believe you were charged in error, email [email protected] before contacting your bank. A payment chargeback against us is treated as a violation of these Terms and may result in immediate termination of your account under Section 8.

8. Termination and bans

We may suspend or permanently ban your account if you violate these Terms — for example by committing payment fraud or chargebacks, misrepresenting your age in a way that breaks the law, attacking or overloading our service, bypassing plan limits, or using the AI tools to generate harmful or malicious content.

If your account is banned: you lose access to the service and to all of your hosted projects, you lose all purchases (subscriptions, storage packs, branding removal, download credits, and the Creators add-on), and any active subscription is cancelled immediately. We cancel subscriptions directly through our payment processor's cancellation API the moment the ban is issued, so you are never billed for a banned account — but no refund is issued for the current period.

Bans are a last resort. If you believe your account was banned by mistake, email [email protected] with your username and we will review it.

You may also delete your account yourself at any time from the account settings. Deleting your account requires an active subscription to be cancelled first, so you are never charged for a deleted account.

9. Your code, your data, and the risk of loss

ModSeed is a creative tool, not a vault. We are not responsible for lost code, lost projects, lost textures, or any other lost work, no matter the cause.

We operate on managed databases, and while we take reasonable care, no system is bulletproof: in the case of a database failure, corruption, or other catastrophic event, everything might be lost. We strongly encourage you to export your projects regularly and keep your own copies — every export is a complete, installable file that works without us.

If a catastrophic loss ever happens, you may contact support at [email protected] and we will cancel your subscriptions. Beyond that, our total liability to you is limited as described in Section 13.

10. The AI assistant and the idea lightbulb

Ultra subscribers may connect a bring-your-own-key (BYOK) AI assistant: you provide your own API key and model name for any OpenAI-compatible endpoint, and the assistant can help build your project directly in the editor — including placing new nodes for you, moving and wiring existing nodes, changing settings, and giving you step-by-step instructions for drawing pixel-art textures. Your key is encrypted at rest and is never shown to anyone — including us — in readable form after you save it.

The assistant operates under your instructions, at your responsibility, and on your billing with your provider. What it writes is licensed to us exactly like your other creations (Section 3). You must not use the assistant to create malware, viruses, or anything designed to harm computers or people — attempts to do so violate these Terms.

The idea lightbulb (also Ultra) generates a fresh mod idea each time you click it. Ideas are generated by our AI provider and are yours to use however you like.

AI output can be wrong. Test everything before you rely on it, and remember that assistant-written content counts as your creation under Section 3.

11. Fair use of the service

You may not circumvent (get around) the numerical limits of your plan — the monthly export counts, storage caps, project counts, collaboration seats, or banked credits — or share one paid subscription between multiple people. You may not scrape the service, overload it, attack it, or run automated tools against our servers beyond what a normal browser does. Section 5a spells out what happens when the free plan's download allowance is circumvented.

You may not use the service to build anything that is itself illegal — for example content designed to damage computers, steal data, or harass people. Your projects are private to your account, but we may still act on clear evidence of abuse. In shared workspaces, do not use collaboration to bother, spam or harass other builders; the owner can remove you at any time and we can ban accounts under Section 8.

12. Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that exports will work with every version of Minecraft. Game updates can break add-ons, and compatibility is not guaranteed.

ModSeed is not associated with, or approved by Mojang or Microsoft. Using ModSeed does not give you any rights to Minecraft beyond what Mojang's own Minecraft EULA and Usage Guidelines already grant you, and you must follow both, which you accepted during sign-up.

12a. Beta features and the compiler

One thing to be plain about, so there is never a surprise: the ModSeed compiler and the Java↔Bedrock visual-to-code translation engine are proprietary and licensed, not sold. You rent access to them while the service runs. Your content is yours — it is stored locally or exported as files you keep — but the compilation environment it passes through belongs to ModSeed, and access to that environment is part of the service, not a product you own.

Features marked as beta or still being built — including the Java↔Bedrock converter — are provided as-is. If a Minecraft update breaks visual blocks for a period, that is not grounds for refunds or liability: you agreed to buy access to an unfinished, evolving product, and breakage is part of building for a game that updates constantly. We fix things as fast as we can; the fix is part of the service, not a debt we owe.

ModSeed retains the right to suspend or ban accounts it reasonably deems abusive or disruptive, without court proof. Enforcement is at the platform's discretion under this agreement, and the owner decides ban policy. If you believe a decision was wrong, email [email protected] and we will review it.

13. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Adam Ward, sole proprietor, doing business as ModSeed and CIServerModding Studios is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including lost profits, lost data, or lost work, arising from your use of the service.

Our total aggregate liability for all claims related to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months before the claim arose.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the service grows. The "last updated" date at the top always shows the current version, and changes will be announced in the app.

For changes that materially reduce what you get (for example a price increase, a lower limit, or removing a feature you paid for), we will ask you to accept the updated Terms — for example with a notice you must agree to the next time you sign in — before the change applies to your account. If you do not accept, you may cancel any subscriptions and delete your account, and no further billing occurs.

For routine changes (new features, clarifications, fixes), the updated Terms simply take effect when announced, and continuing to use ModSeed means you accept them.

15. Governing law and contact

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts of Wyoming, or as required by mandatory consumer-protection law where you live.

Questions about these Terms: [email protected]. Help and account questions: [email protected].

16. Severability

If a court or authority finds any part of these Terms invalid or unenforceable, that part will be changed to the minimum extent needed to make it valid — or, if that is impossible, removed — and the rest of the Terms remain fully in force between you and us.

Removing one rule never cancels the others. In particular, the license you granted in Section 3 and the refund terms in Section 7 survive independently.

17. Entire agreement

These Terms (together with our Privacy Policy, the Minecraft EULA notice, and any plan details shown on the pricing page at the time you subscribe) are the entire agreement between you and ModSeed about the service. They replace anything earlier — promises, chats, emails, or older versions of these Terms.

If a plan description on our pricing page and these Terms ever disagree, the Terms win — except where the pricing page gave you MORE than the Terms promise; in that case you keep the more generous version.

Nothing in these Terms creates a partnership, employment, or agency relationship between you and us, and nothing said by any other user binds us.
